It is generally a generic term for lacquerware lacquered in vermilion or vermilion and black. In antiquity, Negoro-nuri was used to refer to lacquered Buddhist ritual utensils and everyday pottery produced by Negoro-ji temple priests.
The lacquer is applied carefully, brush by brush, and the underlying wood grain forms a beautiful pattern.
