6sun Michinoku bachi 川連漆器

This plate is made of traditional Kawatsura lacquer 川連漆器 from Kawatsura-cho, Yuzawa, Akita Prefecture.

Kawatsura lacquer is very durable, easy to use and inexpensive, making it practical and suitable for everyday use.

One of the characteristics of Kawatsura lacquer is that it is finished with a sophisticated technique known as hana-nuri (flower lacquer).

Hana-nuri is a technique in which the lacquer is applied with a brush and allowed to dry, without buffing or polishing after application, to achieve a delicate, soft texture.
