This bracelet bears the “Awaji knot” of mizuhiki craftsmanship.
The Awaji knot has been widely used for celebratory occasions as it has the meaning of “enduring relationship” because the more the left and right rings are tied together, the stronger the knot pulled at both ends, the stronger the bond. Once tied, the knot cannot be easily untied, so it also has the meaning of an unbroken seal and the keeping away of evil spirits.
This knot is the most typical of the mizuhiki knots, but it is not overly Japanese and its rhythmic and sinuous beauty is somehow charming and modern.
When combined with simple coordinates, the individuality of the knot stands out and becomes a splendid accent.
