How about celebrating a new arrival with a traditional Japanese 'Gogatsu-ningyo' doll, wishing the child a healthy and vibrant growth?

May 5th: Tango no Sekku — A Celebration of Growth and Protection

It was during the Kamakura period, with the rise of the samurai class, that this day became established as a celebration dedicated to young boys. The medicinal herb used to ward off evil spirits, "Shobu" (Iris), shares the same pronunciation as the word for "respect for the martial spirit." For this reason, Tango no Sekku became a sacred day to wish for strength, courage, and vitality in children.

The May dolls, known as Gogatsu-ningyo, are far more than mere ornaments; they are profound symbols that protect children, offering prayers for a radiant future and the prosperity of the entire family.

The helmet we present to you has been named "Shu-sse Kabuto" (The Helmet of Success), born from the sincere wish that every child may one day soar toward great achievements and a brilliant career.

This porcelain creation maintains its beauty unaltered over time. Resistant to natural aging and easy to clean, it is perfect for displaying with elegance and ease in any corner of your home.

Yakushigama is the premier brand of Chugai Toen, a historic ceramic art studio located in Seto (Aichi Prefecture)—a city with over 1,000 years of tradition in pottery. The name "Yakushigama" pays homage to the small shrine dedicated to Yakushi Nyorai (the Buddha of Medicine) that stood on the grounds where the studio was founded.
